IoT FAQ
Common questions about FastBee IoT core concepts, helping you understand the platform's data model and automation capabilities.
1. FAQ
1.1. What is a thing model?
A thing model is the data model of a product or device, consisting of properties, functions, and events. Properties describe device states, configurations, and monitoring data such as temperature and humidity; functions perform specific tasks such as turning on a fan; events are messages the device actively reports to the system, such as overheating or device faults.
1.2. What is scene linkage?
Scene linkage is a visual programming approach for automated business logic. For example, an "arrive home at night" scene can turn on the TV, water dispenser, and air conditioner as soon as the door lock opens.
1.3. What is a device shadow?
A device shadow caches the device's properties and functions. Control commands can still be issued while the device is offline; once the device comes online, the system pushes the changes made during the offline period and the device responds.
1.4. What is the difference between shadow mode and online mode?
In online mode, the client publishes property and function messages and the device subscribes and responds directly. In shadow mode, commands are first received and stored by the backend and delivered when the device comes online, which suits scenarios where devices frequently go online and offline.
